Hi Nicola We’d like to respond to a few comments within your article regarding Jayco’s cycling sponsorships. What started out as philanthropic support for cycling 18 years ago, has developed into a powerful marketing tool which provides Jayco with strong links to the cycling and wider community. Our research shows that interest in cycling has increased and ranges from young children and families, to the older ‘baby boomer’ market. Similarly, our comprehensive sales statistics demonstrate that caravanning has become more popular with young families and activity focussed people who enjoy the freedom that caravanning brings. Owning a RV is no longer limited to ‘grey nomads’.The demographic of people interested in cycling also share an interest in the type of healthy outdoor lifestyle that Jayco promotes – making it an ideal fit for our brand. As you have noted from visiting our website, Jayco supports many sports – including women’s basketball, motorsport, mountain bike riding and rugby league. Our involvement in cycling makes up only a small part of our marketing and sponsorship budget. We consider very carefully the sponsorships we undertake to ensure they are aligned with our brand. As well as tracking media exposure, we also look deeply into purchasing influence and the sales results generated by our sponsorships. But our sponsorships are not all about getting brand recognition. Jayco has always had a keen interest in helping athletes across Australia realise their potential and achieve their goals, and the sponsorships of our chosen sports is one of the ways we can help do this.Yours sincerelyAndrew RyanMarketing Director, Jayco Corporation
