Are you heading out Gunnedah and Narrabri way? Then swing past Boggabri on the 27th to the 29th April and have what could be the experience of a lifetime. The Lions Club of Boggabri are hosting a Drovers Campfire weekend.This will be the sixth one and it is held at the showground. Boggabri is located on the Kamilaroi Highway (which runs from the great divide to the outback) between Gunnedah and Narrabri.
So what does one do on a drovers weekend I hear some ask? Well it seems as if they have it all figured out, There are a number of planned events for the weekend these including; Tours of the local mines & cotton gin (weather permitting), On-site Shearing demonstrations, Camp oven & Damper cooking, Poetry by visitors, Trailer Parking, Weekend markets (must be local only with subject to Lions Club approval),Friday night country music, Saturday night Skits by locals ( Subject to change), should be hilarious , Sit around the Campfire, Sing-a-long Sunday night (bring your favourite musical instruments and talents), Community Church on Sunday and a whole lot more……..
RV Retailers are welcome. Local retailers Tow World of Tamworth will be in attendance with some vans and campers on demonstration.
Don’t miss out, book early and help us make this event a memorable one for everyone to enjoy. We have already received repeat bookings from the 2011 Drovers Campfire weekend. We welcome any new ideas that will help us improve our Drover’s campfire weekend in the future. Don’t forget to bring along a comfortable chair to watch all the exciting activities and mud boots just in case of rain.
If you have a Caravan, Motor home, Camper, 4 X 4, Ute, Tent or Swag well this is a weekend for you to enjoy.
Visitors are welcome from Tuesday, 24th April 2012 but please take note that the main activities do not start until Friday. So take some time to look around our district. We are having a mine tour on Thursday if we have sufficient numbers to fill the bus.
Meals will only be available from Thursday night until Sunday night (these are at an extra cost) more information will be available on request. We are planning to have a food court on Sat night.
Costs per night (subject to change) is $15 for an unpowered site and $25 for powered sites (we only have a limited amount of powered sites and will be offered to any person with a medical condition as first priority. Generators are welcome but curfew will be 9pm.
Please note Showers and Toilets (not to the same standard as park facilities) will be available on the grounds, remember that this is a Drovers Campfire weekend. Water to fill tanks will be available on site and a Toilet dump point in town
