In Brief: 2025 Triton

Mitsubishi 2025 Triton models

Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL) has introduced the Triton Cab Chassis and Club Cab ranges to market.

“Triton has always been known for its ability to work hard and play hard,” said Bruce Hampel, MMAL’s General Manager of Product Strategy.

“The Cab Chassis and Club Cab variants provide customers another opportunity to create a vehicle that suits their lifestyle – from tackling their chosen trade to chasing weekend adventures.

“Cab Chassis variants offer impressive scope for customisation, while the new Club Cab Pickup caters to those who only need a single seat row – but with ample cab storage space.

“Our vision is to drive Australians to be more adventurous, and these new models give Triton the product depth to deliver on this promise.

“Additionally we have also introduced a sub one-tonne payload option for Triton GLX, GLX+ and GLX-R Double Cab Pickups. This follows a successful introduction of similar tonne payload GLS and GSR grades last year and further broadens Triton’s fleet appeal,” he said.

The Mitsubishi Triton Cab Chassis and Club Cab ranges will be progressively introduced to market through 2025, commencing with the Double Cab – Cab Chassis which is now available to order.

Sub one-tonne payload GLX, GLX+ and GLX-R models will be available in Q3, 2025 along with Single Cab – Cab Chassis and Club Cab vehicles.

APPRENDIX:  2025 TRITON – A refresher

Bi-Turbo Diesel gets every job done

The  Mitsubishi Triton range features Mitsubishi’s latest 2.4-litre Bi-Turbo Diesel engine.

Producing 150kW peak power, the Triton’s new engine also generates 470Nm peak torque, sustained from 1500rpm to 2750rpm.

The new engine and gearbox combination is designed to produce exceptional response and low-rev pulling power, coupled with linear torque delivery throughout the rev range for improved load carrying and towing capability. The bi-turbo system also improves efficiency over the previous generation.

A six-speed manual gearbox is available on certain GLX and GLX+ models, with an updated six-speed automatic gearbox also available range-wide.

All Wheel Control combines four drivetrain settings and seven drive modes to maximise capability

On models equipped with Super Select 4WD-II, a centre-console ‘DRIVE MODE’ button enables access to an even greater depth of capability.

As part of Triton’s overarching All Wheel Control system, there are seven available drive modes. These work in conjunction with Mitsubishi’s famed Super Select 4WD-II system, which continues to offer 2H, 4H, 4HLc and 4LLc drivetrain settings.

The below tables summarise New-Gen Triton’s All Wheel Control systems:

The ability to switch from high-range 2WD to 4WD on the fly has long been a hallmark of Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system. This is made possible by the Torsen control system that enables a 40/60 front/rear drive distribution while leaving the centre differential unlocked, giving strong traction on slippery surfaces without reducing on-road agility.

For even more traction and control, ‘4HLc’ – high-range four-wheel drive with locked centre differential – gives a 50/50 locked drive split, front and rear.

‘4LLc’ utilises the transfer case to engage low-range gearing along with the locked centre differential. Using 4LLc also allows engagement of the rear differential lock, via an accessible console-mounted button, for maximum pulling power.

For GLX and GLX+ models, Mitsubishi’s Easy Select 4WD system allows 2H, 4H and 4L engagement via a console-mounted rotary dial.

A Triton first: Rally-derived technology with Brake Active Yaw Control

Additionally, a new Brake Active Yaw Control system employs a vectoring function to further optimise traction and response. This system calculates optimal yaw angles based on current driver operation and road condition, directing torque between the inner and outer wheels by using the braking system.

Brake Active Yaw Control also differs its operation based on the selected drive mode:

Market-leading Mitsubishi aftersales support, with 10/10 Diamond Advantage

This comprises a 10-year / 200,000-kilometre manufacturer’s warranty, with 10-year Capped Price Servicing. Diamond Advantage also offers up to four years complimentary roadside assist.*
